The United States’ ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland met Monday with the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL), Al-Siddiq Al-Kabir, in Tunisia and agreed on the importance of the independence of sovereign institutions and the regular payment of salaries and essential expenditures for the benefit of the Libyan people.
Norland said on Twitter that he had welcomed the Governor’s commitment to complete reunification of the bank, commending Al-Kabir for embracing unity during such a pivotal time.
Norland also said that he supported the Governor’s plans to visit the United States in early March to hold important and timely consultations with senior US officials.
Al-Kabir held a meeting, also on Monday, with the deputy governor of CBL Ali Al-Hibri for continuing with the process of unifying the CBL between east and west regions. The meeting was attended by Deloitte experts.
