The U.S. Embassy in Libya organized an advanced workshop in partnership with Oberlin College, on the protection of cultural resources in Libya.
The US embassy explained that the workshop was held in Tunis last month and comes in, as a part of a series of training courses launched in 2016.
The workshop was attended by 30 people from the tourist police, customs, and archeologists from Libya, and under the supervision of international experts to identify the strategies and procedures used in investigations into illegal trafficking in cultural property.
The workshop was preceded by two sessions; one was in Rome and the other in Tunisia to help in finding ways to reduce the looting and trafficking of Libyan antiquities and treasures.
