Several contracts for tourism projects were signed on Sunday in the eastern city of Beida, the Benghazi Chamber of Commerce revealed.

The signing is seen by the eastern authorities as the launch of ‘‘a real tourism investment drive in the (eastern Libyan) Green Mountain region’’, the report added.

The contracts were signed in the presence of several members of the House of Representatives, officials of the eastern Libyan Interim Government, mayors and businessmen.

The development contracts were signed by the Green Mountain Tourism Development and Investment Company to develop state-owned tourism sites. The report made no mention of details of the contracts or of the value of these investments.

At the signing ceremony an introduction to the sites that the company will be rehabilitating and redeveloping was made.

The tourism sites to be targeted for maintenance are the Al-Hamama Resort of the Municipality of the Sahel, known as the King’s Retreat, the Mansura Hotel in Shahat, the 1805 Derna Resort, and the Tolmetha Resort.
