The general assembly meeting of Zalaf Libya Company for Oil and Gas Exploration and Production for the year 2019 was held at NOC headquarters in Tripoli, headed by Eng. NOC Chairman.
The company’s activities for the year 2019 were reviewed. The meeting dealt with the activity of the Department of Health, Safety, Security and Environment, exploration and development activity, drilling, studies, project and manufacturing activity, computers, the financial status, the financial and legal aspect, and the human resources of the company. The company’s goals and programs for 2020, the proposed estimated operational budget for 2020, and the latest developments related to the plans laid out by Zalaf Company were also discussed.
The issue of supplying Ubari electric power station with gas targeted from Al Atshan field after it was approved by NOC Board of Directors last July was reviewed. The attendees reviewed the strategic goals for the year 2020, such as organizing and developing the organizational structure of the company for the years 2019-2020, studying the construction of the South Refinery, classifying concessions, early production of Eraon field, and studying the economic feasibility of Al Atshan field.
NOC members of the Board of Directors thanked the Chairman and members of the Management Committee and all the employees of the company for putting the required targets into practice and coordinating with NOC various departments, especially the technical ones, with the need to focus on the systems and modern automation to organize the company’s administrative work taking into consideration the observations mentioned in the report of the monitoring body. They emphasized that Zalaf Libya represents the radiance of a new industrial phase in our beloved South, and it is not a new company due to its specialized practical experiences.
NOC Chairman and members of the Board of Directors praised the exceptional efforts made by the company’s employees, praising their important role in promoting the oil and gas sector in Libya, through their effective contribution in preparing the necessary plans to develop the oil fields designated for the company. The Chairman added that the purpose of establishing Zalaf Libya Company is to support the national economy by raising production rates and increasing the oil and gas reserves in Libya, opening new horizons, creating job opportunities for Libyan youth, especially in the southern region, and pushing national oil and gas companies and encouraging them to accept the challenge with international companies in Libya in the field of exploration and development at the present time.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of Zalaf Libya Company, praised the support of NOC Chairman and members of the Board of Directors which enabled Zalaf Company to explore and produce oil and gas and enabled it to achieve the goals according to NOC plan despite the difficult circumstances, highlighting the most important achievements made by the company during 2019, such as starting to study the gas project extracted from Al Atshan field to supply Ubari power plant, and some programs related to spatial development in addition to the various challenges faced by the company during its functioning.
In conclusion, NOC indicated NOC keenness that the company attaches great importance to environmental and occupational safety programs for workers and that the company should put it among the priorities required to be implemented and asked the company’s management committee to expedite the implementation of development programs on time to contribute to the actual start of production from its fields, give priority to the company’s youth component and pay attention to their training and qualification, and involve them in all the work that the company is implementing to give them the opportunity to fully carry out their duties, and improve Services in general for all employees of the company, thinking about alternative energy programs and taking into cnsideration what was mentioned in the observations of the board of directors and the monitoring body and appreciated the positive spirit of the members of the company’s management committee.
