On Thursday, March 17, 2022, a meeting was held between the Health, Safety and Environment Departments of the National Oil Corporation and the Libyan Fertilizer Company at its headquarters.
From the National Oil Corporation, the meeting was attended by:
Khaled Abu Khatwa, Manager of the Department of Health, Safety and Environment, Dr. Salem Al Jawashi, the Department of Health, Safety and Environment’s Advisor, Mohamed Abu Qusaysa, Head of Safety Department, Mohammed Al-Dabib, Head of Environment Department, and Munir Al-Ali, Advisor of the Department of Health, Safety and Environment.
From the Libyan Fertilizer Company side the meeting was attended by: Sami Najm, Manager of the Department of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality, and Khalifa al-Maghribi, Coordinator of Safety, Environment and Occupational Health.
Also, a part of this meeting was attended by Ahmed Zidan, the Acting Executive Manager.
The attendees reviewed performance indicators and accident statistics of all kinds, the readiness of the fire and warning systems at the company’s petrochemical complex and the eastern port through which the company’s products are exported, and the phenomenon of ammonia emissions from factories and reservoirs stored in the air, where a risk assessment study on these emissions was presented at the worst scenarios, and precautionary and preventive measures to be taken, and the need to place them in the work and projects programs, were discussed to improve the status quo.
Also, it was emphasized on the need to adhere to, follow and abide by the application of operational safety rules due to the seriousness of the materials and high pressures used in the company’s factories, in addition to reviewing and discussing health, safety and environmental projects and follow-up mechanisms.
