Sirte company for oil and gas production reopened Al-Istiklal field and pumped about 60 square feet of gas via the coastal gas transfer system to eastern region’s power plants.
The company said the process of resuming production at the field took place after shipping diesel on Sunday morning – approximately (253,000) tons – which gave the company a storage capacity of about half a tank. The company indicated that it would be able to run gas operations comfortably if the diesel was shipped. The remaining stock, which is ready for shipment, is about 367,000 tons of diesel.
The company was forced on May 31 to stop operating Istiklal field after the storage capacity of condensate of the production of natural gas decreased. This negatively affected power generation in power plants in the east.
