The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) has announced that Sabha Airport is now open to all citizens residing Fezzan after 5 years of suspension due to the damage of its facilities as a result of armed conflict.

“The reopening of this vital outlet was a result of joint efforts by the Stabilization Fund in Libya, the Libyan government and 13 international donors,” the UNDP said Tuesday.

“Citizens in the southern region no longer have to bear the burden of traveling hundreds of kilometers to reach other cities in Libya,” it added.
