The head of the High National Elections Commission (HNEC), Imad Al-Sayeh, confirmed Sunday that 75 thousand new voters have registered in the voter roll besides the 1.5 million voters who were registered in the previous elections.

Al-Sayeh clarified that the number is low, especially since the statistics of the Civil Registry Authority showed that those who are entitled to vote are 4 million and a half.

He stressed that their aim is to exceed the rate of the enrolled voters to 50% before the upcoming elections in 2018 to achieve an ambitious figure, adding one million citizens to the electoral roll.
