Emergency response teams from National Oil Corporation (NOC) and its subsidiaries have in the last two days contributed to the National Safety Authority’s (NSA) ongoing efforts to extinguish forest fires around Tripoli as a result of repeated shelling.
Emergency and fire-fighting teams from Brega Petroleum Marketing Company (BPMC), Mellitah Oil and Gas Company (MOG) and Akakus Oil Operations have mobilised to support a mass fire-fighting operation near Bridge 27, west of Tripoli. Coordinated efforts have thus far prevented the spread of the blaze to nearby residential areas thanks to the quick and efficient response from the NSA and NOC firefighters.
Emergency response teams, however, are unable to fully mitigate the effects of the fire due to conflict-related concerns, including the prospect of shelling and possible landmines, with explosions heard nearby. NOC reiterates its call for an immediate ceasefire to ongoing hostilities.
May Allah protect our brave first responders.
