Libya’s Tripoli based Economy Ministry has called for a limit on the circulation of counterfeit and smuggled medicines, medical supplies, and equipment in the Libyan market.

The call was made on Tuesday (26 January) by Economy Minister Faraj Bumtari to the Committee studying the phenomenon.

The Minister stressed the necessity for their supply to be through legitimate means and through approved channels, supervisory authorities, and outlets. This is to include the application of the barcode system (Gs1) for tracking the supply and distribution of medicines until they reach the consumer.
