The head of the Supreme Council of State met the Spanish Ambassador to Libya in the presence of Charge d’Affaires of the Libyan Embassy in Tunis on the sidelines of his visit to Tunis and discussed the latest developments in the region and means of enhancing joint cooperation between the two countries.
The Spanish ambassador renewed his country’s full support for the efforts of dialogue between the Libyan parties in the context of the Libyan political agreement in accordance with the UN plan of action on Libya.
The Spanish ambassador expressed his hope to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries and the return of Spanish companies to Libya to complete the suspended projects as soon as the security situation improves.
The Head of the Supreme Council stressed the importance of the Spanish role through the European Union in pushing the political process and helping the Libyan authorities to restore stability and security, which will reflect positively on the countries of the Mediterranean basin and the region in general.
