On Monday morning, November 30, 2020, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Eng. Mustafa Sanallah, received at the headquarters of the National Oil Corporation in the Victory Hall in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, the Executive Director of the Italian company ENI, Mr. Claudio Descalzi and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of the members of the Board of Directors, Abu Al-Qasim Chingir, Al-Omari Mohammed, and Chairman of the Operating Management Committee of Mellitah Oil and Gas Company, Mr. Mohamed Bin Shatwan.
During the meeting, a number of urgent issues were discussed, in the forefront of which was the resumption of important and stalled projects due to the scarcity of financial budgets needed by the corporation to implement its projects and to fulfill its contractual obligations with its partners, and to maintain the production rates in the onshore and offshore fields of the company, and work to gradually increase them, and support the energy sector in Libya at all levels.
During his welcoming speech to the Italian delegation to Eni, the Chairman of the Board of Directors Eng. Sanalla, said: “We, as a board of directors of the National Oil Corporation, cherish the depth of the strategic relations with Eni, and we seek to continue this constructive economic partnership as far as possible to develop the oil and gas sector. For his part, Mr. Descalzi expressed his pride in the bilateral relations between Italy and Libya in the oil and gas sector. He also congratulated Mr. Mohammed bin Shatwan for assuming the task of chairing the management committee of the operator of Mellitah Company, wishing him and his colleagues, members of the committee and all its employees in all positions, success, and commented at the beginning of his speech, saying We are linked to Libya in general, and the Corporation in particular, with economic ties, and they are strong ties that played a major role in the continuation of this constructive partnership between the Corporation and Eni.
Mr. Descalzi confirmed the company’s full commitment to its operational activities and projects in Libya, in addition to supporting the National Oil Corporation’s initiatives to build capacity and provide medical protection, diagnostic and critical care equipment necessary to confront the Covid-19 epidemic, as part of the corporation’s sustainable development projects.
In the speech of the Chairman of the Management Committee, the operator of Mellitah Company, Mr. Muhammad bin Shatwan, Chairman of the Management Committee, commented that he will put all his experience gained over the past years in the Libyan oil sector to advance the company’s work through close cooperation with the members of the management committee, and all its employees, and through coordination With the National Oil Corporation, the strategic partner is the Italian company ENI.
The two parties also discussed the progress made in the development project for the two installations (A and E), which will increase the natural rates of gas production in Bahr Al-Salam in the coming years, and will ensure the supply of gas to the local market.
A member of the Board of Directors for Exploration and Production Mr. Abu Al-Qasim Shanqir added on this topic that the consultants and specialists in the corporation are making exceptional efforts to maintain production rates and increase them in some oil fields, taking into account that they are commensurate with the nature of the field and according to the regulations and legislation regulating this, as well as by taking steps and protocols.
