Production at Sharara and El Feel oilfields in western Libya has been resumed, the country’s National Oil Corporation confirmed, adding that force majeure on the two oilfields is now over.

The resumption of production comes following days of shutdown after a notorious gunman from the mountain city of Zintan closed Rayanya valves, halting the transport of crude from Sharara to Zawiya oil terminal.

The reason for the closure is still not known.

El Feel valve, which was subjected to a sabotage act, has been repaired, the NOC confirmed.

The closure caused a financial loss of more than 160 million Libyan dinars per day.

The NOC stated that Libya’s oil production is now recovering with output reaching more than 1.1 million bpd.
