A delegation of Libyan companies has arrived in Jakarta to participate in the 39th Indonesia Expo, aiming to strengthen trade relations between the two nations.
The event, which opened on Wednesday, has attracted broad interest from international companies, including those from Libya seeking opportunities in Indonesia’s rapidly expanding market.
Libyan firms kicked off their visit with field tours to explore potential business avenues. On Tuesday, a delegation from Oya Aviation met with Indonesia’s aerospace manufacturer PT Dirgantara in Bandung, where discussions centred on light passenger aircraft models (CN-235, CN-219) and technical services, including maintenance and ground support.
The two parties reached a preliminary agreement to launch formal negotiations for procuring aircraft to serve the Libyan market, highlighting a growing appetite for cross-border collaboration.
Libya and Indonesia have seen a significant increase in bilateral trade, with volumes surpassing $100 million in the past two years. The Indonesia Expo has drawn major players from industries such as food production, civil aviation, pharmaceuticals, and medical supplies, with Libyan companies representing sectors like food, aviation, and manufacturing.
