The Libyan ambassador to Rome, Omar Al-Tarhouni, called for the reopening of Libyan-Italian airspace at the earliest possible time.

Al-Tarhouni stressed that this is due to the significance of direct contacts between the two countries, according to the Italian newspaper ‘La Stampa’.

He also called for lifting the EU ban imposed on Libyan aviation.

Italian media has reported that these requests are due to be discussed during an expected visit of the Libyan Foreign Minister to Rome on April 22.
