Libya’s Minister of Economy and Trade, Muhammad Al-Hawaij, has reached a mutual agreement with his Palestinian counterpart, Khaled Al-Asili, to host the “Made in Palestine” exhibition at the Tripoli International Fairgrounds without specifying a date.

Al-Hawaij and Al-Asili met recently on the sidelines of the Economic and Social Council’s ministerial-level meeting at the Arab League’s headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.

The two sides agreed to have their ministries supervise the event in collaboration with the General Authority for Exhibitions.

A statement by Libya’s Economy and Trade Ministry said the meeting was an opportunity to implement what was previously agreed upon during a visit made by a high-level Palestinian delegation to Libya last March.

The Palestinian delegation, which included business owners, focused on developing a joint vision for economic and commercial aspects to enhance cooperation between Libya and Palestine.

As a result, the “Made in Palestine” exhibition was deemed an appropriate means of further promoting economic and trade relations between the two sides.

During the meeting, Al-Hawaij highlighted the importance of strengthening economic and trade ties with Palestine and emphasized his government’s support for the State of Palestine.

In March, the two sides had agreed to establish an economic committee, organize bilateral meetings, propose the formation of a joint chamber of commerce, and exchange laws and decisions regulating commercial and industrial activities, standard specifications, and approved quality standards.

Cairo’s meeting was joined by several officials, including the adviser to the Libyan Minister of Economy, the Director of the Ministry’s Foreign Trade and International Cooperation Department, the Commercial Attaché at the Libyan Embassy, and the President of the Joint Libyan-Egyptian Economic Chamber.
