The Minister of Industry and Minerals in the Government of National Unity (GNU), Ahmed Abu Hissa, discussed with the Moroccan Minister of Industry and Trade, Riad Mazour, at the Moroccan Ministry’s office on Friday, the strengthening of industrial cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Moroccan-Libyan Business Forum, which was held in Tangier under the slogan (Investment boosts development and economic integration), with the participation of the Minister of Economy and Trade, Mohammed Al-Huweij.
In his speech at the Forum on Wednesday, Al-Huweij called for the opening of sea and air routes between Tangier and Tripoli to facilitate the movement of trade and increase the volume of trade exchange.
Al-Huweij stressed what he described as the great role that Morocco would play in Libya by reopening the Moroccan embassy in Tripoli, as well as the General Consulate in Benghazi, which will help facilitate procedures regarding visas for Libyan business owners and citizens.
On the sidelines of the forum, memoranda of understanding were signed between the Libyan and Moroccan sides. The exhibition accompanying the forum was also opened with the participation of 17 Libyan companies and institutions, 20 Moroccan companies, and more than 90 Libyan businesspeople.

The meeting reviewed ways to benefit from the experience of the Moroccan side in establishing and managing technologies, and preparing and managing industrial zones, according to what was published by the Libyan Ministry of Industry, in addition to establishing a partnership between the Libyan Iron and Steel Company and Moroccan companies specialized in manufacturing car bodies.
