Mohamed Al – Hawaj, Minister of Economy and Trade, met with British Secretary of State for the Middle East and North Africa, James Cleverly, to discuss strategic economic cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting in Tripoli, in the presence of the Kingdom’s Ambassador Nicholas Hopton, Al-Hawaij addressed the role of the UK in reopening European airspace to Libyan airlines, emphasizing the importance of such a step in enhancing trade between the United Kingdom and the African States in light of Libya’s unique geographical location.
The importance of partnership with the United Kingdom in the field of technical guidance for projects was highlighted, as it played a part in diversifying the Libyan economy, including energy and transportation trade initiatives and establishing projects in the southern region.
Al-Hawaij emphasized the significance of improving Libyans’ access to British visas to facilitate travel.
The meeting was attended by the Head of Administration of the State Electricity Company, the Head of the Renewable Energies Authority, the Ministry’s Legal Adviser, and the Director of the Ministry’s Department for International and Technical Cooperation.
