Libya elected First Deputy Chairperson of AU

The African Union (AU) heads of states and government elected Libya as First Deputy Chairperson of the AU during the 30th AU Summit in Addis Ababa, state-run Libyan News Agency (LANA) reported.

LANA said the post constitutes a political achievement for Libya and supports its position on the African and regional levels as a significant country with considerable weight on the African continent and the Arab world.

Libya was also elected Vice-Chairman of the AU Ministerial Follow-up Committee on Agenda 2063.
