Italy plans to send additional troops to Libya

Rome will send additional 100 soldiers and about 30 vehicles to Libya to help train and support the Libyan forces.

The arrival of the new troops will increase the number of troops supporting the humanitarian mission in Libya to 400 and the vehicles to 130 according to Italy’s International Program for 2018.

The Italian soldiers will provide advice and support to the Libyan forces and will deal with smuggling and security threats as well as assisting the Libyan security forces and air force and rehabilitation of related infrastructure.
