The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) said it had re-operated the second unit of Ubari gas power plant after finishing all tests, saying the unit that generates 150 megawatts will be connected to the general network in the few coming days before summer.

The member of the GECOL board, Radwan Khalil, said earlier that Ubari power plant would be connected to the grid to add 600 megawatts before summer.

GECOL said it had concluded operational tests on units 1, 2 and 3 inside Al-Sarir power plant by maintenance teams from the German company Siemens, which said the units were ready to be operational using gas or liquid fuel and that the generated power will be transferred to Ajdabiya power plant.

GECOL added that Al-Sarir plant will receive the required gas for operations to generate 855 megawatts after finishing the connection cable of 400 KV by May.
