Frank Baker officially announced as new British ambassador to Libya

Frank Baker has been officially announced today by the British Foreign Office as the new British ambassador for Libya. He replaces Peter Millett.

Baker tweeted: ‘‘I am honoured to be the new British Ambassador to Libya. Britain and Libya have a long history. Over the coming weeks I will listen to and learn from people across Libya and discuss how we can work together to achieve our common interests’’.

His boss, British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson also tweeted: ‘‘Pleased to welcome our new Ambassador @FrankBakerFCO to @ UKinLibya. The UK is at the forefront of international efforts to help bring the stability and peace that Libya so deserves’’.

Baker had been Britain’s ambassador in Iraq in his previous posting.
