The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) said that the frequent power cuts in the southern region are due to the interruption of services in five power towers located near the city of Samno, following their collapse on April 28 last.

The GECOL explained via its official page on Facebook, that one of these towers collapsed completely, and needs to undergo a complete overhaul, emphasizing that work is underway to bring back the towers back to operation as soon as possible.

It also extended a formal apology to the people of the southern region, explaining that the problem is beyond the company’s control.
