The Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Al-Siddiq Al-Kabir, participated in the meeting of African central bank governors on the sidelines of the annual meeting of the Bank for International Settlements at the bank’s headquarters in Basel, Switzerland.
According to the Central Bank’s official Facebook page on Tuesday, the meeting discussed the experience of the international central banks of France, Canada, Europe, Japan, and the US Federal Reserve in managing inflation, the challenges facing African central banks, the necessity of coordination and cooperation between them, the role of central banks in the financial stability of countries, and the importance of the independence of central banks.
The meeting was attended by the Executive Director of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, John Williams, the Director General of the Bank for International Settlements, Agustín Carstens, the Governor of the Bank of Japan, Kazuo Ueda, the Governor of the European Central Bank, Christine Lagarde, and a number of governors of international and African central banks.
