Sirte Oil and Gas Production Company opened Monday Al-Khair oilfield after demo operations and finishing up all of the safety procedures, especially fire system and maintenance. The oilfield is expected to produce 10.000 barrels per day to be exported via Es Sidr oil terminal.

The National Oil Corporation (NOC) reported a video statement for Chairman Mustafa Sanallah, who gave the green light for the beginning of production at the oilfield, hailing the efforts of the workers despite the hardships at the oil sector.

Sanallah said Al-Khair oilfield is under day-to-day monitoring by the NOC and Sirte company and added that there are tens of explored sites since 1960s but they haven’t been developed to join Libyan oil production.

He called for developing all small fields as part of the strategy of the NOC to add to the production rates and the national reserves for the Libyan oil sector; thus bettering the revenues, and consequently the livelihood of Libyans.
