Gharyan Municipal Council announced the signing of an investment contract between the Mechanical and Electrical Industries Company and the National Bonyan Industrial Investment Company to help jump-start the iron and steel plant in the city.
The municipality indicated in a statement that the factory is due to be operational and inaugurated approximately 180 days following the signing of the contract, with a production capacity of between 400 to 800 tons per day, along with the formation of a committee to evaluate the factory’s status and the quantities of materials associated with it to complete the delivery and receipt procedures.
It is worth noting that the factory has ceased production for the previous seven years and its employees have been suffering from the extended interruption of their salaries for in excess of 60 months now.
