Max Air Limited said it had sealed a deal with the Federal Government of Nigeria to evacuate 3,184 out of the 5,037 stranded Nigeriens expected to return home from Libya in the next few days.
The International Organisation of Migration (IOM) had been evacuating Nigerian migrants from Libya back home using airlines from the North African country especially Libyan Airlines and Buraq Air.
The contract to evacuate Nigerians from Libya was signed between NEMA and representative of Max Airline Malam Shehu Wada over the weekend, the airline said in a statement.
With this development, Max Air is expected to operate six flights to bring in the 3184 Nigerians from Libya using its large fleet of Boeing 747-400.
Recently the Republic of Niger engaged Max Airline to evacuate over 5,000 Niger citizens from Libya.
The statement from the airliner said they had the manpower and equipment for the movement of large number of people to Nigeria from any part of the world through its charter arrangement.
