The Hariga oil port in eastern Libya has resumed crude export operations after a group of protesters occupying the site agreed to end their sit-in, the National Oil Cooperation (NOC) confirmed on Wednesday.
Protesters at the port had been blocking exports for days, demanding jobs for local people.
They ended their blockade after meeting the NOC Head Mustafa Sanalla and General Manager of the Human Resources Development Department.
Sanalla communicated with the protesting youth and conveyed to them the NOC’s understanding of their demands and its keenness to provide suitable job opportunities for them and others, according to the statement.
Al-Hariqa is one of the largest oil ports in Libya. It has been under the state of force majeure for nine months before the NOC lifted it on September 19, 2020.
