(ANSA) – ROME, 30 MAR – Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio, speaking to TG2 Post, said Italy plans to open a consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

“Allow me to say that a year ago, at the Berlin conference, no one believed in that peace process. We believed in diplomatic effort, diplomacy won. Looking ahead to the elections in Libya in December and we are once again the protagonists. We foresee the opening of a consulate in Benghazi,” Di Maio said.

“I have already visited Libya twice, and in April Prime Minister Draghi will visit. We are also creating opportunities for Italian companies. We have spoken with everyone to promote dialogue,” Di Maio said.
