Alexandria’s Borg El-Arab International Airport received on Friday the first flight operated by the Libyan Buraq Air after years of hiatus.
According to Libyan Aviation News, the flight took off from the Benina International Airport in Libya’s Benghazi.
The plane, a Boeing 737, had 55 passengers on board.
It was received by a traditional water salute to celebrate the resumption of Buraq Air flights, after around six years of hiatus due to violence and instability in Libya.
Quarantine teams promptly finished all health procedures taken with the passengers, while airport authorities verified their PCR test results.
Four weekly flights are operated to and from Borg El-Arab airport with Benina International Airport, Al-Abraq International Airport, the Tobruk International Airport, and Mitiga International Airport in the capital Tripoli.
