Representatives of the Islamic Development Bank yesterday visited the First Industrial Zone belonging to the Libyan Industry Union (LIU), the LIU reported today.
The 162-hectare Industrial Zone on the outskirts of Tripoli employees 800 workers, which the LIU said this will go up to 4,000 direct jobs in the zone’s 15 factories. The LIU said the zone is one of its most important achievements with a group of factories still operating today without state support and despite the conditions Libya is currently in.
The LIU is optimistic about the future and said it will work to create other industrial zones in the near future as political and security stability return to the country.
