The Ministry of Finance and the US Agency for International Development (USAID) have signed a letter of cooperation that defines a reference framework for strengthening cooperation and partnership between the two parties in the field of improving public financial management and implementing economic reforms in Libya.
The partnership between USAID and the Ministry of Finance is based on shared values to strengthen the foundations of a unified Libyan state as the Libyan relevant authorities work to reinforce the state’s capacity to improve public financial management, promote fiscal transparency, and fight corruption, according to a statement by the Ministry of Finance.
Finance Minister Faraj Abu Matari and the US ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, oversaw the signing of the agreement, which took place in the Tunisian capital between the Director of Institutions and Technical Cooperation at the Ministry of Finance, Mustafa Kishadah, and the Executive Director of the USAID, John Pinel.
