The implementation mechanism of the project to establish a passenger terminal at Misrata International Airport was discussed in a meeting held by Libya’s Airports Authority (LAA) at its Tripoli headquarters yesterday.
Specifically, the meeting discussed the Tripoli based Libyan government’s Decree No. (660) of 2020 regarding approval to amend the contract concluded by the LAA regarding the expansion and modification of the departure terminal at Misrata International Airport to establish an integrated passenger terminal.
The meeting, which included the local implementing company, reviewed the designs, and added amendments in line with recent changes in preparation for its final approval.
Other measures required to be taken by competent authorities to begin implementation, including the Audit Bureau’s approval of the contract amendment and the provision of the necessary financial coverage, were also discussed.
It will be recalled that a fire had destroyed Misrata airport’s passenger terminal on 3 August. The cause of the fire was attributed to an electric short-circuit.
