National Oil Corporation (NOC)’s Department of Sustainable Development delivered a number of essential services projects to Ajdabiya and surrounding areas on February 5 and 6, 2020. The projects include restoring the Man-Made River water flow to eastern neighbourhoods in the Zueitina region – including the Ajbail compound, Al Arj compound, Aghawi compound and Awhida compound – for the benefit of 1,800 citizens and 250 houses. The project was implemented under the supervision of the Ajdabiya Projects Office and the Libyan General Company for Water and Sanitation.
The Department also completed the installation of electrical equipment – including transformers, cables and wooden electricity pylons – needed for the renovation of the electricity grid and distribution of loads for the Ajdabiya River Power Grid in 18 sites in the city. These included the Airport neighbourhood, Riadh Al Salhen, Hay Al Muslmani, Tobruk Road, and Hay Damascus. The project was implemented under the supervision of the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) and the Ajdabiya Projects Office.
These projects are part of NOC’s ‘good neighbour’ policy of improving living standards of areas adjacent to oil fields and facilities.
