The general assembly meeting of Zawia Oil Refining Company for the year 2019 was held at NOC headquarters in Tripoli, headed by NOC Chairman.
The company’s activities for the year 2019, the various projects that Zawia Company intends to undertake during the next year and the proposed budget estimate were reviewed. The attendees discussed the various challenges facing the company and its employees, and ways to overcome them as well as the observations contained in the report of the monitoring body.
NOC Chairman and members of the Board of Directors praised the efforts made by the employees of the company to overcome the difficulties and ensure smooth running of operations in light of the deteriorating security conditions in the country during the past years.
The chairman added that NOC will stand before any conspiracies that try to prevent us from taking serious steps towards the progress and development of the promising Libyan oil sector with all professionalism and responsibility, and to improve work and efficiency conditions for workers in the sector as our main goal is always, to preserve Source of income for the Libyan people and also stressed the importance of concerted efforts to overcome the challenges facing the company in achieving its goals, and to address repeated damage, whether as a result of delay in the maintenance of furnaces or electricity problems the difficulty of programming shipments that lead to either a reduction in the load or a complete cessation of units.
The difficulties faced by the company to restart the asphalt plants in Zawia and Benghazi, and the need to review the pricing of asphalt material, initiate the implementation of studies to reduce energy consumption, solve the waste problem, focus on specific uses, and coordinate with the General Administration of Industries and the public administration for marketing at NOC to overcome these obstacles in order to increase the economic return of products while maintaining local and international specifications, focus on production sustainability projects, pay attention to the reports of the monitoring body and preserve the environment, paying attention to waste management, worker safety and process safety while providing amenities and entertainment.
Chairman of the Management Committee of Zawia Oil Refining Company praised the support that NOC has always provided in overcoming the challenges and reviewed the most important achievements of the company during the year 2019, such as fencing the company’s site, blowing wires to the northern side of the refinery, a project to supply and install a gas turbine with a capacity of 5-6 megawatts, and a project to improve the electrical network in the refinery.
