Malta retains shipment of Russian printed Libyan currency pending consultations with CBL of Tripoli.

A diplomatic source disclosed that the Maltese authorities had confirmed to the authorities in Tripoli that the shipment of Russian printed Libyan currency seized in Malta would be retained temporarily, Libya Al-Ahrar TV channel has reported.

The same source added that Malta has informed the Libyan Foreign Ministry that it will not dispose of the funds reserved, only in coordination with the Central Bank of Libya (CBL) in the capital Tripoli, and in accordance with legal procedures.

Malta has confirmed the of a large shipment of unofficial Libyan currency, heading for areas under control of warlord Khalifa Haftar.
