Opportunity to participate in the Libyan National Forum about young people, peace and security in Tunis.

Are you an active in the Libyan community and your age is 18 – 35?

Apply to take part in the forum about young people, peace and security in Tunis which will be held on Friday and Saturday, 21.06.2019 and 22.06.2019 in Tunis.

Deadline for submission of applications will be on Friday, 14.06.2019 at 12.00 hrs, GMT Libya. https://bit.ly/2ipabvy  background: Libyan youth represent approximately 60% of the population, which is a great opportunity for young Libyans to participate in the forum.

In December 2015, UN security Council adopted decision No. 2250 on young people, peace and security which aims to enhance the participation of young people in these fields and urged the member to increase representation to prevent conflicts.

Topics which will be discussed:

  1. participation of young people in decision-making and representation of young people in the next election.
  2. partnership: interaction of youth with the government and participation of young people in the public affairs.
  3. protection: activation of a mechanism to protect civilians, including the youth from the armed conflict.
  4. prevention: youth empowerment for developing activities to build an environment which rejects extremism and terror and strengthens the culture of tolerance and acceptance of the other.

Main objectives of the forum:

  1. to put recommendations to activate the security Council’s decision No. 2250.
  2. to encourage young Libyans to play a role and participate in a plan for security and stability.
  3. to ensure measures and procedures for the rehabilitation of youth Associated (armed groups) and find jobs to them.
  4. to set guidelines to enhance the participation of young people in the public affairs.
