The World Health Organization (WHO) said that it had delivered forty-two thousand blood bags to blood transfusion centers in eastern Libya.

On its Facebook page, the WHO explained that the aid was provided with the financial support of the European Union Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid, pointing out that there is an urgent need for such life-saving supplies for patients requiring blood transfusions in hospitals in the eastern part of the country.

“We have made tremendous efforts in the (WHO) with our partners to prevent the collapse of the Libyan health system, but thousands of people are still in desperate need of critical health services”, the WHO representative in Libya Jaffar Hussein said.
