The head of the General Electricity Company (GECOL), Abdul Majid Hamza, arrived at Sharara oilfield, southwestern Libya, accompanied by a delegation from ENKA Teknik, the Turkish company executing the Ubari gas-fired power plant.

The delegation visited the power plant in order to study the possibility of the return of the company and to discuss the safety and security of its engineers, so that it resumes work before the summer peak.

ENKA Teknik resumed work at the plant in February 2017, but withdrew its staff again in November after the abduction of three of its engineers on their arrival to the town’s airport from Tripoli. Their fate is still unknown.
