UN envoy calls on UN agencies to support education sector in Libya.

The UN envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salame, stressed that United Nations agencies should prepare themselves to support the education sector in Libya during a meeting held on Tuesday with Minister of Education Othman Abdel Jalil.

Salame took on board the situation within the education sector in Libya and the challenges facing it during the meeting.

The UNSMIL stated on its official Facebook page that Ghassan Salame also agreed with the Libyan Minister to join efforts to reconstruct the University of Benghazi.

Some schools had witnessed some problems over the past period in Libya during the beginning of this academic year and the current semester when teachers protested demanding salary increase and improvement of their living conditions.
