Announcement of a training course on “Strengthening the participation and protection of Libyan women according resolution 1325”

Human Rights Watch announces registration for the first training course in the Peace and Building Partnership Program entitled: “Strengthening the Participation and Protection of Libyan Women according Resolution 1325”.

Program Goals:

The aim of the program is to raise public awareness of the importance of involving Libyan women in  planning and implementing policies to confront the internal conflicts in the country and achieve civil peace, in addition to the importance of women’s participation in transitional justice and political formations related to country’s administration. The project aim is to influence policy makers, political classes in Libya and other parties involved in resolving internal conflicts and building the state in order to ensure the real participation of Libyan women in the protection and prevention policies for women, Victims of armed conflict as well as increased representation of women in decision-making and peacekeeping operations in compliance with Security Council resolution 1325.

Targeted groups:

This program is for all women activists in the promotion and protection of the rights of Libyan women from all regions, including political activists, women lawyers, women’s rights defenders, women journalists and other women activists.

Terms of participation:

  1. The candidate shall believe in women’s rights issues, including the right to political participation and protection from violence.
  2. To have knowledge of human rights and preferably those who actually exercise the task of defending the rights of women at the local and international levels and empowering women in all fields.
  3. To be effective and initiative about social change towards a better reality for Libyan women.
  4. The candidate must adhere to the seriousness and respect of the dates and obligations related to the session.
  5. The candidate must adhere to the post-training work and follow-up, especially in relation to awareness meetings for women in their areas or according to the requirements of the program.
  6. Participation in training courses is free of charge.

Registration in training courses:

The candidate will send a letter of interest to participate in the course not exceeding one page showing the academic qualifications, practical experience, reasons for interest in participation and expected contributions to the program; and must send CV until 20.03.2018 to email: Nsreen.amer@jwc.org.ly.

The course will be held in Benghazi for 5 days; transport and accommodation will be specified later for women outside Benghazi.
