Discussions underway to reopen American Embassy in Tripoli and manage frozen assets

The Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs, Lutfi Maghribi, held talks with US Senior Director for Africa, Cyril Sartor, on ways to help protect Libya`s frozen assets and support Libya with its management.

The Foreign Ministry’s Information Office confirmed on Thursday that Maghribi had discussed with Sartor in Washington DC the importance of speeding up the reopening of the US Embassy in Tripoli and the mechanism of activating economic cooperation between the two countries.

Maghribi also reviewed political developments in Libya with the American advisor and the preparations for the legislative and presidential elections.

The two sides also discussed threats facing Libya including organized crime gangs and terrorist organizations, most notably ISIS according to the office.
