First Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Russian Railways Company, Alexander Misharin, said that his company is looking into the possibility of resuming its work on the railway project between Sirte and Benghazi.

Speaking at the annual Russian Investment Forum in Sochi on Friday, he clarified that negotiation on resuming work in Libya did not stop, noting that they are seeking to be granted compensation for the losses incurred as a consequence of the conflict in Libya.

Misharin added that the Libyan railway project was not removed from the company’s executive plans, but the return requires the agreement to be adjusted on the basis of mutual benefit, noting that they are waiting for the proposals of the Libyan side on the agreement.

The project, estimated at 2.2 billion euros, was halted in February 2011 due to the uprising.
