The GNA Foreign Minister Mohamed Siala on Monday met the Foreign Minister of Luxembourg Jean Asselborn who arrived earlier for a visit to Libya.
Bilateral relations and means of bolstering them in all areas
were discussed at the meeting.
The Foreign Minister said at a press conference with the his
counterpart he discussed with asselborn upgrading exchange between
the two countries in the economic cooperation especially in the
investment areas, indicating that Libya and Luxembourg had signed a
exchange agreement in the air transport field.
Illegal migration and its impact on Libya and the EU were
discussed at the meeting, Siala said saying that the viewpoints of
both countries on this point have been identical.
Asselborn said his country supported the political process in
Libya highlighting the will showed by the Consensus Government of
National Accord to rebuild state institutions.
He also expressed support for the elections planned in Libya this
year which he said would contribute to reconciliation in the country.
On migration issue Asselborn said his country and indeed the EU
would continue to support Libya dealing with this problem, indicating
that Libya, through enabling whoever wants to inspect the detention
camps, refuted all rumors aimed at tarnishing its image in regard to
treatment of migrants.
Asselborn said he intended to visit a number of detention camps
as part of his visit.
