The National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced the launching of the first phase of the campaign to plant one million trees in several regions, coinciding with the world’s celebration of the World Day for Safety and Health in the Workplace on April 28.
The NOC indicated that this campaign is part of the “Think About Tomorrow” initiative, to reduce carbon emissions, which was launched by the Chairman of the NOC Farhat Bengdara at the recent Global Climate Summit in the United Arab Emirates (COP 28).
According to a statement issued by the NOC, the campaign aims to increase green spaces in areas where there are few forest seedlings, and to help adapt to the risks of climate change, as well as to withstand drought and the factors of desertification that cause the global climate crisis.
NOC urged for implementing and preparing studies to classify and analyze risks, and to update measures related to occupational safety and health to reduce the negative repercussions associated with climate change, especially those that are directly related to the safety and health of workers, as well as facilities and property.
The International Labor Organization previously issued a report entitled Ensuring Safety and Health at Work in a Changing Climate, which included new worrying data about the impact of climate change on the health and safety of workers.
