Libya overtook Nigeria as the continent’s top crude oil producing state for March 2024, according to the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) latest report.
Libya recorded 1.24 million barrels per day of crude oil production in March, an increase of 5.7 from 1.17 million barrels per day in February, while Nigeria recorded production of 1.23 million barrels per day in March compared to 1.32 million barrels per day in February.
Libya recorded the largest monthly increase in oil production in Africa last February, also surpassing Nigeria, which was the largest producer in the African continent.
