The UNSSC Primer on Sustainable Development is a two-page document explaining the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The task is to translate the primer from English to Arabic, then to proofread and finalize the document. Deadline: 3 weeks after receipt of materials, or before 25 August, 2017. If the volunteer needs further support and guidance, a dedicated person at the UNSSC will be available through email. Every volunteer will receive due credit for his/her contribution.Two volunteers are needed: 1 Translator and 1 Proofreader * Tentative Timeline (to be finalized together with volunteers)-> Friday, 4 Aug: UNSSC sends Primer to Translator; Friday, 11 Aug: Translator sends 1st draft to UNSSC; UNSSC forwards draft to Proofreader; Friday, 18 Aug: UNSSC sends draft with comments from Proofreader to Translator, who then communicates directly with Proofreader to finalize document; Friday, 25 Aug: Final draft to UNSSC *

Background and objectives

UNSSC is the organization mandated with inter-agency training and learning in the UN system. The Knowledge Centre for Sustainable Development, in collaboration with relevant UN and non-UN institutions, supports the policy and operational work of the UN through the development of learning tools, platforms for interaction and executive programmes around the three dimensions of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris Climate Change Agreement. The primer is meant for anyone looking for an easy-to-understand introduction to the 2030 Agenda. Translating it to Arabic will allow Arabic-speakers access to this useful learning resource.

* Equivalent of mother tongue proficiency in written Arabic* Proficiency in reading English * Experience in English-to-Arabic translation or proofreading * Excellent attention to detail * Basic familiarity with UN system and sustainable development issues * Respect for deadlines * Please write your application and CV in English
