Al-Hawij: Libya’s human competencies capable of making transformation to digital economy

Minister of Economy and Trade of the Government of National Unity, Mohamed Al-Hawij, underlined, on Friday, that Libya possesses human resources and competencies capable of achieving transformation to digital economy.

He noted that the Ministry had launched several systems that would help towards digital transformation.

The Minister was taking part in the Maghreb Banking Forum on digital economy for the reconstruction of Libya, on Friday in Turkey, which is organized by Maharat Development Company in cooperation with the Union of Maghreb Banks and the Union of Libyan Banks, according to a ministry statement.

During the forum, Al-Hawaij referred to the role of Maghreb and Libyan banks in promoting the digital economy sector, providing solutions in the field of financial technology, and contributing to financing reconstruction projects in Libya, by relying on technology in financing and investing in all industrial and agricultural activities, services and infrastructure to achieve sustainable development.

 He called for holding the next forum in the State of Libya.

The forum aims to develop smart and digital services to improve banking services and create an environment for the implementation of future projects in various sectors.

 Undersecretaries of the Ministry of Planning, Agriculture and Livestock, the Libyan Consul General and the Commercial Attaché at the Libyan Consulate General in Istanbul attended the forum.

The Governor of the Central Bank of Mauritania, the Algerian Commercial Attache, Secretary General of the Union of Maghreb Banks, Director General of the Union of Libyan Banks, Director General of the North African Bank, Director General of Wahda Bank, a number of international institutions, former ministers from Tunisia and Mauritania, and a group of experts and those with interest in such issues also participated in the forum.
