The Central Bank of Libya (CBL) said that its governor, Al-Siddiq Al-Kabir, participated in talks with experts from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in the Tunisian capital. The talks began on November 7 and ended on Saturday.
Officials from the Ministry of Economy and Trade, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Planning, and the Statistics and Census Department of the Government of National Unity (GNU) participated in the talks, in addition to the directors of the relevant departments of the bank. The talks are to prepare for the return of (Article No.4) consultations that have been suspended since 2014, according to a statement by the CBL.
The experts discussed the status quo of the Libyan economy, the stages it has gone through in the past years, and the measures taken to limit the negative effects created by successive crises.
The CBL statement said that the IMF commended its efforts in maintaining the financial sustainability of the state and managing the crisis in the country in light of the exceptional circumstances it has been going through.
