A strategic meeting between the NOC and BP was held in London today at bp’s head office in St James’ on Thursday 3- February-2022. The meeting was attended by Mustafa Sanalla, Chairman of the NOC. Mr Sanalla met with senior BP Executive, Gordon Birrell, (Executive Vice President Production and Operations).
The resumption of BP exploration within Libya was the main theme of discussion in this meeting, both parties agreed to resume the exploration activities in Libya as per the 2018 agreement reached by NOC, BP and ENI.
NOC’s – Libya gas development strategy was also discussed with bp at a high level. The collaborative interest in developing and producing gas to further supply the European market, shall ensure mutual benefit to both the Libyan gas market growth and BP’s strategical commitment to Libya.
Furthermore, key to this development strategy is a fundamental reduction in carbon waste and an extended development of brown to green power generation and distribution projects. Thus, maximizing the country International gas sales.
It was further agreed that a Workshop shall be held between the technical teams of both the NOC and BP to further discuss and develop the NOC gas strategy.
